Central Mongolia Budget 3-Day Tour

Having picked you up from Ulaanbaatar at 08.30–09.00 from the east side to the west side, one by one, we will stop at a supermarket so people can buy water and snacks. All shops everywhere accept cards.
Travel to Kharkhorin city.
Kharkhorin was the ancient capital of the Great Mongolian Empire in the thirteenth century. It is located on the right bank of the Orkhon River, 80 km south-west of Semi-Gobi. Explore Erdene Zuu Monastery, a focal point in Mongolian history and culture, and visit Kharkhorin Museum and the city ruins. Total drive 370 km 6 hours.
Sleep at Ger/Yurt guesthouse. A ger is a traditional shared place with 4–5 beds. Men and women are separate.
The ger guesthouse has a modern shower, a modern toilet, electricity and Wi-Fi. The toilet is not inside the ger. It is better to bring your own towel.
You can have an interesting conversation with tourists from many countries there.

Semi-Gobi Desert. This area of the Mongolian countryside is exactly as it sounds: partially arid desert but surrounded by a green mountainous backdrop.
Driving through the Mongolian steppe, we'll reach the desert. We'll then meet a local family who will tell us all about their traditional nomadic lifestyle.
Immerse yourself in desert life, enjoying a camel ride through the arid landscapes of the Semi-Gobi, admiring the dunes and mountains of Mongolia in the most exciting way.
There is no shower, no electricity and an outside traditional toilet, etc. It is full of experiences of nature and the nomadic lifestyle.
Please note that: “If you're not able to squat with your legs apart when using the toilet, this part can be quite difficult.”

This tour includes more comfortable accommodation on the second day. Per luxury ger $120–150. Ger inside: 1–3 beds and toilet. But it is open between May and September. The high season is July and August, and it may be fully booked.

Visit Khugnu Khaan Mountain.
Ride a horse in the Khugnu Tarna mountains for around 45 minutes.
If all goes to plan, drive back to UB between 3.00–4.00 pm. Please allow for some risk /tyre puncture, traffic jam, etc./
Winter tour: if weather conditions are not good, a longer, safer drive. The nomadic family has moved north from Elsen Tasarkhai into the mountainous area, so the camel riding takes place outside the family's ger, rather than on the sand dunes.
